This course provides students with the knowledge, skills and values to support people with disabilities in activities related to personal care and daily living.

All forms of communication with clients and colleagues are covered, in order to reflect an understanding and respect for individual differences and needs. Some behaviour management communication is also included.

This unit is intended to provide an introduction to working with people with a disability. Demonstrate an understanding of the delivery of quality services for people with disabilities. Demonstrate the capacity to support rights, interests and needs of people with disabilities and respond to situations of risk or potential risk to people with disabilities.

This unit describes the knowledge and skills required by the worker to facilitate the empowerment of people with a disability.
